About the Author: Fritjof Capra
Fritjof Capra is a renowned physicist and systems theorist whose work bridges the worlds of modern science, philosophy, and ecology. Born in Vienna, Austria, in 1939, Capra earned his Ph.D. in theoretical physics from the University of Vienna and has conducted research at leading institutions including the University of Paris, Imperial College London, and the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory.
He first gained international recognition with his groundbreaking book The Tao of Physics, which revealed the profound connections between the discoveries of modern physics and the insights of Eastern mysticism. In later works such as The Turning Point, The Web of Life, and The Systems View of Life (co-authored with Pier Luigi Luisi), Capra deepened this exploration—advancing a holistic framework that unites the physical, biological, social, and ecological dimensions of existence.
As founding director of the Center for Ecoliteracy in Berkeley, California, Capra has dedicated much of his career to fostering ecological understanding and systems thinking in education. His writings and teachings continue to inspire a new generation of scientists, educators, and thinkers to view the Earth as a living network of interdependent relationships.
Today, Capra lives in Berkeley, where he continues to write, teach, and lecture worldwide—inviting readers to rediscover the unity of life through science, consciousness, and compassion.
